In the Moment

What have the Romans ever done for us?

I, like many people have ideas and thoughts that pop into my head.

I have decided to write down (the ones that are publishable and legal), so I don’t forget them and they may be of assistance to you.

The answer of course is quite a lot, some good some not so good. They perfected the spectator sports, with chariot races, gladiators and throwing troublesome Christians to the lions (when that didn’t work they set up their own branch of Christianity).

It’s the big cats that interest me and how this practise still goes on with crowds baying for blood from the comfort of their chairs, with supreme deities deciding whether people live or die. In the 70’s and 80’s this took place on the terraces at football grounds in the locality.

These days the violence is conducted on social media allowing people to do and say whatever they like without the need to answer for their actions. Unless of course for sport the crowd turns on them and decides they should be slaughtered.

It’s a very tempting place to play and to express your opinion freely (I do) but who knows when or if your are going to the next person to feel the force of the baying mob.
