In the Moment
There is no silver bullet
I have decided to write down (the ones that are publishable and legal), so I don’t forget them and they may be of assistance to you.
Having spent the last 30 years in and around the people development space, I have seen the ‘latest thing’ a few times, after a few years to get reasons why the ‘latest thing’ isn’t the ‘latest thing’ because this is the ‘latest thing’!
Management By Objectives, Competency Frameworks, NLP, Mindfulness, Emotional Intelligence, Employee Satisfaction Surveys, 360 Feedback, and many more. So what can we learn from all of this, what should we take away when the next ‘latest thing’ arrives?
That it is not a Silver Bullet. There isn’t one answer; there aren’t four answers that give us an overall solution to everything. That one person’s success will be another person’s failure.
Don’t look for Silver Bullets as the answer to issues. Simply coping what others have done, will not get you the same results (See Painting By Numbers, Your Handle Has No Suitcase).
Instead look for the grains of gold that work for you, the elements of ideas that make sense to you. Grains of gold make nuggets and nuggets can be used to create beautiful and unique jewellery.
