Failure, Fear, Control and Trust  

I, like many people have ideas and thoughts that pop into my head.

I have decided to write down (the ones that are publishable and legal), so I don’t forget them and they may be of assistance to you.

What is your tolerance of failure both personally and organisationally?

Failure is a natural part of progression and development; we have to fail to know what is possible and what is not possible. So how kind are we when we fail? How forgiving is are businesses to people when they fail and they will?
For most people, they are conditioned to see failure as failure! We are therefore scared to try because we may fail.
How do we know you are pushing boundaries unless you fail? Fear prevents us and makes us unwilling to consider any form of change.
Leaders because of this fear, introduce more controls ‘to ensure’ there is no failure. Constructing ever more complex processes that eliminate not only failure but also a success, this ultimately leads to, you guessed it a failure! This also informs people they are not trusted.

If we trust people, they will fail but they will also succeed. They will learn from that failure and develop even better ways of doing things and reduce failure, fear, and the need for control.
