Diversity – knowledge, skills and attitude

I, like many people have ideas and thoughts that pop into my head.


I have decided to write down (the ones that are publishable and legal), so I don’t forget them and they may be of assistance to you.

There is lots of evidence that having a diverse workforce provides real advantages to business performance, and I believe that organisations with true diversity are more resilient to the changes in the environment.

What is meant by diversity?

Taken to its absolute, diversity is all about selecting the right person for the right role at the right time, not allowing an unconscious/conscious bias to be involved.

How is diversity used?

There is lots of evidence that diversity is used as a big stick (by both sides) to hit people that take the opposite view to another individuals opinion. It means that any form of constructive dialogue does not happen; there is little or no opportunity to test theories, challenge assumptions or deal with prejudice.

The opinions and thoughts held by people don’t go away; they go underground and still impact on the organisations in which we work.
