Cult of Self – Below or above average
I, like many people, have ideas and thoughts that pop into my head.
I have decided to write down (the ones that are publishable and legal), so I don’t forget them and they may be of assistance to you.
I was reading that most leaders with a business when asked how they would rate their leadership skills would say above average. While most people asked how they would rate their leader would say below average. Who is right?
The answer doesn’t matter (it’s the people working for the leader!) what is the problem is that there is a widening gap between these two.
If I believe I am above average am I more or less likely to look at how I can improve in this area?
If I believe I am above average, am I more or less likely to take feedback and act on it, rather than discount it?
Those of you in leadership positions how many of you:
Believe you are above average (more than competent) as a leader in your business against the rest of the population?
How many of your colleagues believe the same?
Is this reflected in what others think of you (remember people will lie to avoid an awkward truth)?
